Redu, literally 'heat', is the popularity score a Chinese streaming platform computes for a show from its own data, such as plays, searches, comments and shares. Each platform has its own scale and never publishes the formula, so a number means something only on that platform. On iQIYI, 8,000 and 9,000 are the thresholds that producers announce with celebratory posters, and 10,000 marks a hit of the year. Small Town Remedy passed 9,000 on iQIYI on its second day.
