先婚后爱
xiān hūn hòu ài · 'marriage first, love after': a couple wed before they care for each other
Xian hun hou ai means 'marriage first, love after'. It is a romance structure in which two people marry for convenience, duty or an arrangement and fall in love only afterwards, so the romance grows inside the marriage instead of leading to it. It gives the story a ready-made closeness and a reason for the leads to share space. The Chinese label is common in plot summaries of period and modern dramas alike. Youthful Glory is described with it.
