About the drama
Blossom (九重紫, Jiu Chong Zi) is a rebirth story that cares more about strategy than about sorrow. Its heroine already knows how badly a household can fail a woman, and she spends the series using that knowledge: guarding her inheritance, picking her allies, and choosing a husband as a partner before she thinks of him as anything else.
It premiered on Tencent Video on December 6, 2024, and ran 34 episodes. Meng Ziyi (孟子义) plays Dou Zhao (窦昭) and Li Yunrui (李昀锐) plays Song Mo (宋墨). Beijing News described the draw as a "big female lead" story that mixes household secrets with court politics, rather than staying inside domestic quarrels.

Dou Zhao was once the mistress of a marquis's household. Then she is a girl again, with the chance to repair what went wrong. She has lost her mother young and has little faith in love or family. She fights her stepmother, protects her property and retreats to a quiet country estate, where she studies in order to make herself self-sufficient.
One rainy night a traveller arrives at the estate dressed as a merchant. He is Song Mo, heir of a ducal house, and Dou Zhao's quick thinking helps him protect the surviving child of the Duke of Dingguo's line, a family known for putting down bandits. Their fates tie together. Back in the capital his own family is full of secrets, while her stepmother spreads a rumour that Dou Zhao has been caught up in a marriage swap. The two decide to marry as an alliance, and the story follows how mutual suspicion turns into trust.
The story is set at an imperial court and in the households around it. It is adapted from the web novel Jiu Chong Zi by Zhi Zhi (吱吱), first serialized on Yuewen's Qidian platform. Beijing News counted it as her third book to reach the screen, after the dramas Jin Xin Si Yu (锦心似玉), from her novel Shu Nü Gong Lüe (庶女攻略), and Jia Nan Zhuan (嘉南传), from Mu Nan Zhi (慕南枝). Zeng Qingjie (曾庆杰) directed; Jia Binbin (贾彬彬) and Zhi Zhi wrote the script.
On December 14, 2024, Beijing News reported that the series' heat index on Tencent Video had passed 30,000, and that the novel's average daily readers on Qidian had risen 595 percent.
