About the drama
Most office romances ask whether the heroine is pretty enough to be noticed. Filter (滤镜, Lüjìng, "filter") hands her the answer on her wrist and then watches what she does with it. Su Chengcheng (苏橙橙, played by Li Landi, 李兰迪) is an ordinary worker who is self-conscious about her skin. A "filter bracelet" lets her switch faces and identities at will, and the comedy comes from the pile-up of personas, not from any one of them.
The tone is loud. On opening night, the hashtag "Filter, crazy drama" (滤镜癫剧, lüjìng diānjù) reached Weibo's trending list, built on the word diān (癫, "unhinged, wildly over the top").

Su Chengcheng gets the bracelet and can switch between many personas. Her love interest is Tang Qi (唐奇, played by Tan Jianci, 檀健次), the founder of a domestic cosmetics brand, who is thrown into confusion by the different people she turns out to be.
Alongside the romance runs a work story. Su Chengcheng and Tang Qi set out to build a Chinese beauty brand around "natural, confident, real beauty". The bracelet gives her the means to help other people, and the series keeps returning to the question the premise raises: what a face is worth, and what it hides. The series is built on a script by the novelist Tong Hua (桐华), and the director is Chen Yuejin (陈跃进).
The series is set in contemporary urban China, in the offices of the beauty business. It is a modern romance with a science-fiction device.
It premiered on Tencent Video on February 24, 2025, and ran 32 episodes. According to Maoyan Pro data cited by the outlet Jiemian, it ranked second on the daily drama heat chart on its first day, and Tan Jianci's character Tang Qi topped a new-media index of roles.
Reception was split in a useful way. Jiemian's review praised the show's offbeat energy as a fresh take on a tired genre. It also pointed to weak spots: workplace plots in which people are judged on looks sit uncomfortably, and Li Landi's own good looks sit awkwardly with the plain heroine she plays. The review's conclusion was that the show is worth watching as an unusual romance, but that "unhinged" alone will not lift a market weary of romance dramas.
The synopsis says that true beauty lies in authenticity and in facing challenges with determination.
