About the drama
How Dare You!? (成何体统, Cheng He Ti Tong) takes a familiar genre, the "transmigrated into a book" story, and plays it as a comedy of manners where modern habits collide with palace etiquette. Its title is a common Chinese phrase of disapproval, roughly "what kind of way to behave is this?", and the show gets its jokes from characters who ignore the rules.
It premiered on iQIYI on February 6, 2026, with 32 episodes, and has finished. The tone is light and fast, with palace intrigue running underneath. It is a quick-witted costume rom-com rather than a heavy court drama.

Wang Cuihua (王翠花, played by Wang Churan, 王楚然) is an ordinary office worker who suddenly finds herself inside a web novel, in the body of Yu Wanyin (庾晚音), the villainous consort who is meant to bring the kingdom down. The book's ending is bad for her, so she needs a plan.
She finds she is not alone. The powerful king Xiahou Dan (夏侯澹, played by Cheng Lei, 丞磊) is also from outside the story, and he is hiding his true identity. Two outsiders who know how the original plot is meant to go, they join forces to survive the fate the novel wrote for them and, with it, political intrigue and ancient prophecies.
The court is a fictional one. The drama is adapted from the web novel of the same name by Qi Yingjun (七英俊), and was directed by Liu Haibo (刘海波) and Wang Li (王莉), and shot from December 2024 to April 2025, according to Chinese Wikipedia, which also has her teaming up with a man called Zhang San (张三). The series premiered more than nine months after filming wrapped.
The title is the idiom cheng he ti tong (成何体统, "what sort of propriety is this?"), a scolding line from the imperial court that the show turns into a punchline.
Reception at launch was strong. Xinhua, citing Wenhui Daily, reported over 280 million cumulative views by mid-February and the top spot on the web-drama heat charts. Commentators credited the pace, the density of jokes, the leads and the costumes. The IP also has an animated version and a vertical short drama.
