About the drama

Love For You (野狗骨头, Ye Gou Gu Tou, "stray dog bone") is a romance that keeps its feet in the mud. It follows one pair of people across two decades and does not dress their lives up: a dead father, a missing mother, a boy who pushes away the one person who stays.

It premiered on July 5, 2026, on Hunan TV and Mango TV, and finished in late July.

Beijing Youth Daily, in a piece carried by China News (中新网), describes the series as stepping away from the usual sugary modern romance and focusing on how people grow up under real pressure.

In the 1990s, in a southern small town called Teng (藤城, Teng Cheng, "Teng city"), teenagers Chen Yi (陈异, played as an adult by Song Weilong, 宋威龙) and Miao Jing (苗靖, Zhang Jingyi, 张婧仪) meet through their parents and start badly. Chen Yi is the tough, defiant kid; Miao Jing, raised by a single parent, is steady and kind, and slowly wears down his guard.

Then Chen Yi's father dies and Miao Jing's mother disappears, and the two are left leaning on each other. Miao Jing tells him how she feels. He, caught up as a witness in a crime, pushes her away and tells her to leave town.

Years later Chen Yi runs a billiards hall in the hometown. Miao Jing comes back on a work assignment. When he begins to suspect her boss of smuggling, he decides to protect her and stay close, whatever she thinks of it.

The series is adapted from the novel of the same name by Xiu Tu Cheng (休屠城), first published on the Jinjiang Literature City (晋江文学城) website, according to the finale-day report from Beijing Youth Daily. It was produced by Mango TV and Fire Pictures (烈火影业). Chinese Wikipedia records that filming began in Huizhou on May 13, 2025, and wrapped on September 10, 2025.

The title is a pair of images. According to Chinese Wikipedia, Chen Yi is the "stray dog" (野狗, ye gou) who fights to survive at the bottom of society, and Miao Jing is the "bone" (骨头, gu tou) in his eyes.

According to the finale-day release carried by China News, more than 5.2 million people reserved the show on Mango TV before it aired, total plays passed 2.7 billion, and viewers on the overseas platform Viki rated it 9.7. The release adds that it reached a peak of 0.9 in the CSM national provincial-satellite prime-time rating and a best single-episode rating of 0.4 on CVB, a TV-audience measurer.
