About the drama
Love's Ambition (许我耀眼, Xu Wo Yao Yan, "let me shine") is a romantic comedy about the part of a marriage story most dramas skip: what happens after the wedding, when the arrangement that made sense on paper stops making sense to the people in it. It is finished, so it can be watched start to finish without waiting: 32 episodes of about 45 minutes.
The draw is the pairing and the polish. Zhao Lusi (赵露思) plays Xu Yan (许妍), a host and business-news anchor, opposite William Chan (陈伟霆) as Shen Haoming (沈皓明), a vice president at a large corporate group. The script leans on sharp banter and on the gap between the public faces both characters maintain and the people they are at home.

Xu Yan wants a place among the city's elite, and she and Shen Haoming marry. She hosts business news, so her working life already sits close to the corporate world his family belongs to. Once they are married, the two struggle to fit into each other's social circles. After a conflict, Xu Yan walks out to build her career on her own terms. Only then does Shen Haoming realize how much he cares, and the series follows his attempts to win her back as both of them drop the masks they have been wearing. Qiao Lin (乔琳, played by Wan Peng, 万鹏) and the workplace scenes keep the story grounded in careers as much as in romance.
The story is set in the present day, in a city called Jingzhou (京州) that the series does not tie to a real location. It is adapted from the novel Da Qiao Xiao Qiao (大乔小乔, "Big Qiao, Little Qiao") by Zhang Yueran (张悦然); the series carries a different title from the novel. Chen Chang (陈畅) directed, and Tencent Video and Shanghai Jinhe Film & TV produced it. Filming ran from June 10 to September 19, 2024.
It premiered on Tencent Video on September 26, 2025, with a television run on Dragon TV (东方卫视) from September 28. Netflix carries it overseas.
At Tencent Video's 2025 awards ceremony, it was named Annual Drama, Annual Breakout Drama and Annual Member Favorite Drama, and Chen Chang won Annual Director.
