My Journey to You

Yun Weishan (云为衫, played by Yu Shuxin 虞书欣) is an assassin from the shadowy organization Wufeng (无锋, "no edge"). With the Gong clan's bride-selection ceremony approaching, she infiltrates the clan's fortress, Gong Men (宫门, "Palace Gate"), to gather intelligence and, she hopes, win her freedom.

Then the clan is hit. Its leader and the chosen heir, Gong Huanyu (宫唤羽), are suddenly killed, and the fourth young master, Gong Ziyu (宫子羽, played by Zhang Linghe 张凌赫), long shunned by the household, becomes Gate Head overnight. Yun Weishan changes her target to the new leader, schemes her way into becoming his bride, and expects the job to end there.

It does not. What waits inside the walls is more dangerous than the mission she was given, and the only person she can use is a man who looks like an idle heir pushed into a seat he did not seek. Around them are other members of the clan, including the second young master Gong Shangjue (宫尚角, played by Zhan Lei 丞磊) and the poison and hidden-weapons expert Gong Yuanzhi (宫远徵, played by Tian Jiarui 田嘉瑞).

The setting is a fictional martial world rather than a dated historical period: a walled clan estate of the kind familiar from jianghu fiction. The series is directed by Guo Jingming, who rose to fame as a young novelist and later directed the Tiny Times (小时代) films.

Reception was divided. The Paper (澎湃新闻) reported on September 19, 2023 that the drama's heat value on iQIYI stood at 9,700 and that its click data had stayed high. The same article praised the visuals, the costume detail and the way male characters are presented, and faulted logic gaps, forced twists and action scenes that are hard to follow. Another Paper report noted that the style drew comparisons with Tiny Times.
