Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

Yin Guo is a popular professional nine-ball player who has come to Finland for a tournament. On the night of the storm she meets Lin Yiyang, a former snooker prodigy now living in Helsinki. At a tournament he disputed a referee's ruling and accidentally collided with the referee, and he was banned. He was young and proud, and rather than accept it he announced his retirement and walked away from the career that defined him.

With some help from Yin Guo's cousin, the two get to know each other, and Yin Guo slowly learns what lies behind his retirement. Meng Xiaodong (孟晓东, played by Wang Xingyue 王星越), her older cousin and a former snooker champion, turns up and becomes the loudest supporter of the match. The story is about whether Lin Yiyang can return to the game, and what the person next to him does to help.

The story is set in the present day, in professional billiards, where the two leads play different games: snooker and nine-ball. The original novel, by Mo Bao Fei Bao (墨宝非宝), appeared in print in May 2020; in it the couple meet in Boston, and the series moved them to Helsinki, according to The Paper. Mo Bao Fei Bao also wrote the script. Huang Tianren (黄天仁), known for Someday or One Day (想见你), directed with Yu Bo (俞波). Filming began in Finland on January 29, 2023, and also took place in France and Suzhou.

According to a finale report from Huanglong Net (华龙网), the show's heat on Tencent Video passed 28,000 within five days of launch and its opening score on Weibo was 9.0. The Paper's review was more measured: it faulted the relatives who push the couple together as heavy-handed, and noted that little actual practice or match play was shown.
