biān shěn biān bō · 'review while airing': episodes are approved as the series is broadcast
Bian shen bian bo means 'review while airing'. Normally a Chinese drama is fully reviewed by regulators before it can be broadcast; under this arrangement production, regulatory review and broadcast overlap, so later episodes can still be adjusted. It lets a series start sooner and respond to the review as it goes. State media and the production team presented The Later Journey to the West as the first of its kind under a broadcast-regulator policy package.
