Feng Qi: The Palace Comedy Where a Kiss Switches the Prince's Personality
A guide to the Mango TV costume romance-comedy Feng Qi as it airs: a modern illustrator in a palace's cold wing, a crown prince with four personalities, and Deng Xiaoci and Zhang Wanying in the leads.
Why this one
A crown prince who becomes a different man when kissed is a premise that explains itself in one sentence, and Feng Qi (凤栖) builds a whole romantic comedy on it. The 24-episode series premiered on Mango TV at 10:00 on October 15, and Mango's own page lists it as costume, fantasy, romance and comedy. Mango's homepage promotion for the leads, Deng Xiaoci (邓孝慈) and Zhang Wanying (张婉莹), describes a story of mutual rescue sealed with a kiss.
One practical point for anyone browsing: this is not a micro-drama. Mango lists it among its regular television series, with 24 episodes of roughly 14 to 19 minutes each, shorter than a standard episode but a different format from the vertical micro-drama. The show is airing, so this guide covers only the setup.
The setup
According to Mango TV's synopsis, a modern woman named Su Xiaochen (苏晓晨) finds herself in the body of Feng Zhiwei (凤知微), a consort sent to the lenggong (冷宫, "cold palace", the wing where disgraced concubines are confined). To get by, she draws and sells fan-made comics, tongren huaben (同人画本), under the pen name Qingqiao xiansheng (青桥先生, "Mr. Qingqiao"). Her subject is the crown prince, Gu Jianchen (顾见尘).
Her fiction leads her into his secret. As the synopsis tells it, Gu Jianchen has split into several personalities after a childhood trauma. Three are named by Mango: Ye Xuan (夜玄), Fu Yi (拂衣) and Ruan Che (阮澈). Feng Zhiwei discovers that her kiss can trigger a switch between them. The show's official Weibo account puts it as four souls for the prince who share one heart that loves her, while her inventive mind carries her up in the world.
That gives the show two engines. One is the comic one: a heroine who writes fiction about the prince and then has to live inside the real thing. The other is the arrangement the personalities create, as one prince and several men compete for the same kiss. Mango's early episode titles show the register. Episode 3 is "Kiss him! One kiss for a new husband?" (吻他!亲一下换一个老公?), and by episode 5 a fourth personality has appeared.
Cast and crew
-
Deng Xiaoci (邓孝慈), the male lead, as the crown prince Gu Jianchen and his other personalities
-
Zhang Wanying (张婉莹), the female lead, as Feng Zhiwei
The director is Wang Kai (王凯), according to Mango TV's series page. We found no published screenwriter, producer or source novel, and no supporting cast list on the pages we could check.
One actor, several men
The role asks Deng Xiaoci to play the prince and the other personalities Mango names while keeping them one person, and the official account's wording makes the four-in-one character the show's main selling point. Deng (born 1998) first came to public attention on iQIYI's survival show Youth With You season 3, where he debuted in the group IXForm. His acting credits since 2024 include the palace drama Palace Shadows: Between Two Princes (嫁东宫) and, in 2025, The Tower of Whispers.
