Fireworks of My Heart

Song Yan (宋焰), played by Yang Yang, is the chief of a fire station, leading the firefighters of Shilitai (十里台). Xu Qin (许沁), played by Wang Churan, is an emergency doctor. They were a couple in their youth, but their families opposed the relationship and they were forced apart. Ten years later their professions bring them back together at fire scenes, and they have to decide what is left of the past and what each has become since.

A review of the opening trailers in Modern Express noted how many scenes show firefighters at work, fire rescues above all, set beside the romance. Both leads have changed over the ten years, and the family resistance that once separated them has not gone away.

The setting is contemporary urban China. The drama is adapted from the online novel Yi Zuo Cheng, Zai Deng Ni (一座城，在等你, "a city, waiting for you") by Jiu Yuexi (玖月晞), published on the Jinjiang Literature City site. The chief producer said the team had researched with front-line fire units and filmed under professional guidance.

Reception was loud and divided. Jiemian, reprinting a Dumou report on July 28, 2023, called it the highest-traffic drama of the summer season, with nearly every episode trending on Weibo, and noted that nearly 300,000 users had rated it 3.4 on Douban. One scene in which the leads play with fire extinguishers drew a response from the Chaozhou fire rescue detachment, which posted a video on correct extinguisher use. The producer Jia Shikai apologized and said the extinguisher was the character's own purchase, not public fire equipment.
